Today is the first day of the week-long festival…Bohag..or Rongali Bihu in Assam. The onset of this festival also marks the beginning of a new Assamese year. Yesterday, on the eve of it, 11304 folk dancers had presented the traditional Bihu Dance in the presence of Assam CM in Guwahati in the State Govt's bid of setting a Guinness World Record for largest Bihu dance in a single venue. 2548 drummers had also performed here with them.

The Tripura government has drawn strong criticism for using the Durbar Hall of the 122-year-old Ujjayanta Palace as the venue for a dinner hosted for G20 meeting delegates earlier this week. The palace was once the seat of the Tripura erstwhile Manikya Dynasty. It was transformed into a museum in 2013. A dinner was hosted for the 75 delegates from different G20 nations, international organisations, NITI Aayog participating in the events at the Durbar Hall of Ujjayanta Palace on April 3.
