Telangana: 6 Maoists killed in exchange of fire with police, 2 commandos injured
Thursday, 5 September 2024 Based on inputs that a Maoists team crossed over to Telangana from neighbouring Chhattisgarh, special police parties took up combing in the area when the incident happened, a senior police officer said.
Chhattisgarh Naxal Encounter: In a major anti-Naxal operation, security forces in Chhattisgarh's Bastar division neutralized 22 Maoists in two separate encounters. The first gunfight took place in the dense forests along the Bijapur-Dantewada border, where 18 Maoists were killed. Another encounter in Kanker district led to the elimination of four more insurgents. A District Reserve Guard (DRG) jawan was injured in the operation. Weapons and explosives were recovered from the sites. Union Home Minister Amit Shah hailed the success, reaffirming the government's commitment to a ‘Naxal-Mukt Bharat’ (Naxal-free India).
