McDonald’s is one of those enduring brands that’s been around for as long as anyone can remember – just about. In the West, at least, you’ll be hard pushed to not find the Golden Arches within a few miles of where you are – it’s inarguably the face of fast food, and while Burger King, Subway and KFC continue to hold their own, McD’s has largely held firm when it comes to appealing to foodies in need of quick dinner fixes. It’s also been at the center of arguments levelled against the health risks involved with fast food – and has therefore made strides to change its menus around over the past few years.
It seems, however, that it’s time for Ronald McDonald to ditch his old-fashioned jumpsuit and to turn up in a top hat and tails – as reports indicate that McDonald’s is rolling out its first-ever ‘luxury’ establishment in London, UK, as of this very moment. Do you eat your Big Macs with a knife and fork? You might start having to. The only thing being – this particular McD’s will reportedly carry diamond-encrusted items, such as cutlery – and you’ll need to book ahead as a VIP to take advantage.
The branch in question already exists on London’s Kensington High Street, and it is set to offer three exclusive ‘signature’ burgers for anyone who wishes to dine in style. Throw in velvet curtains, silver cloches and butler service and you have a marketing campaign tour de force like never before – that’s right – it’s all in the name of advertising the brand’s three new signature patties, which have reportedly been designed by some of the country’s top chefs – even those graded with the hallowed Michelin Star.
Anyone hoping to dine in style on Kensington High Street will be able to do so for one day and one day only – that’s Wednesday, August 15th – and bookings will open from midnight up to 3pm the Friday before, August 10th. It’s promising to therefore be a bizarrely exclusive experience for anyone who really relishes their burgers – and we don’t quite mean in that way, either. Whether you’re a fan of fast food or you’re simply intrigued as to how luxury McDonald’s can go, book yourself a table this Friday while you can – and dust off those fancy clothes for a trip down the high street!
