Ramadan: The sweet story of Sheermal Naan

If you are fond of Awadhi cuisine, then you must have heard about 'Sheermal'. It is a slightly sweet, tandoori saffron bread, which is widely enjoyed across the country during Ramadan iftar. It is believed that this dish originated in the kitchens of the Nawabs of Awadh. The cooks or rakabdars made this naan in tandoor with spices like saffron and cardamom and then it became an important part of our food too.
