Happy New Year From One News Pageby 👨‍💻 Graham Pierrepoint

It’s hard to believe, but we’re already at the end of another year – and what a year it has been. As always, we’re looking forward to another year of news and features to bring to you, our readers – but it’s important, too, that we take stock and reflect upon the twelve months which have passed.

It’s been a tumultuous year for news – whether in terms of world politics, entertainment, sport or otherwise, there have been a number of huge events which have captured the interest of the populace in 2018. In politics, 2018 proved to be an immensely complex year for the UK and Prime Minister Theresa May, as the looming Brexit continued to confound. On the other side of the Atlantic, US President Donald Trump has continued to oversee a year of scandals and drama, with more personnel leaving the White House than possibly anticipated.

It’s also been a big year for privacy. 2018 will be remembered as the year where Facebook was taken to task over data sharing, and they may not yet be out of that tunnel. It was also a year where big companies were obliged to inform users and consumers of their data intentions more so than ever before. While we may be a long way off taking full control over our data online again, it has at least been an eye-opening twelve months.

In the world of entertainment, Disney and Marvel continued to dominate the box office, while 2017’s musical megahit The Greatest Showman continued to dominate music streaming and downloads throughout the year. We’ve also lost some of our most beloved names in entertainment and beyond, from Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin to Professor Stephen Hawking, Hollywood legend Burt Reynolds and Mr Marvel himself, Stan Lee.

2018 has been a year of wins, of losses, of drama and of closure in many ways. As always, here at One News Page, we will be here to guide you through all the mysteries that 2019 has buried within the next twelve months for us. We’ll continue to bring you trustworthy stories from trustworthy sources – videos, articles and more besides. Stick with us, too, for our pick of the best movies heading to the big screen over the next year.

With this – we would all like to wish you a very happy new year - and for a prosperous 2019!
