Japan PM returns to hospital as he breaks term record
Monday, 24 August 2020 Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on Monday set a new record for the longest consecutive term in office but faced growing speculation about his health as he returned to hospital. Abe, 65, spent more than seven hours at a Tokyo hospital last week during a previously unannounced medical check-up that his aides insisted was routine.
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has told reporters he wants to take care of his health and do his job, despite a visiting hospital for a second week. A top spokesman played down concerns and said the prime minister was "the same as usual." Adam Reed reports.
