Ahmedabad (Gujarat), May 18 (ANI): Tin roofs of the slums in Ahmedabad are being coated with white paint by Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), to help the slum dwellers beat the rising temperature in the city.
Painting it white would reduce the temperature within their homes, and it becomes comparatively tolerable to stay within the house during daytime.
“Most of the people live in houses with tin roofs, which absorb more heat and make the house extremely unbearable to live in.
White-painted roofs reflect more sunlight and keep interior cools.
We expect incidents of heat stroke to decrease due to this,” said BD Doshi, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation.
