UK Supermarkets Testing Facial Recognition to Verify Alcohol Buyers Age
According to Gizmodo, a select few self-service checkouts at supermarkets in the UK will soon be equipped with cameras and facial recognition software.
The checkouts are reportedly going to use tech from British startup Yoti to determine if a shopper is old enough to buy alcohol and cigarettes.
According to reports, the self-service checkouts with facial recognition technology could become more widespread by next year.
However, so far all of the super markets who have implemented the technology have only done so on a trial basis
