Stephen Hawking’s Wheelchair And Other Possessions Are Going Up For Auction
A collection of the late physicist Stephen Hawking's possessions are going up for sale by Christie’s.
????The Associated Press says that the collection of items includes complex scientific papers, a script from “The Simpsons” tv show and one of his iconic wheelchairs.
????Christie's head of books and manuscripts, Thomas Venning said, "You can see each advance as he produced it and introduced it to the scientific community." ????Hawking was given only years two live after being diagnosed with ALS at age 22 although he survived for decades, only recently dying at the age of 76.
????The collection also contains one of only five copies of Hawking's 1965, Cambridge University thesis, “Properties of Expanding Universes.”????Hawking's illness left him wheelchair bound and proceeds from its sale will go to the Stephen Hawking Foundation and the Motor Neurone Disease Association.
????The auction will be over for bidding between October 31st and November 8th and is currently on display in London.??
