In November 2017, Carrie Underwood tripped on the steps of her home and broke her wrist and got 40 stitches in her face.

Business Insider reported that after her fall, Underwood was worried her voice would be different.

At first, she says it was "physically impossible" to even sing with stitches on the inside and the outside of her mouth.

Finally she was able to return to the studio to record her most recent album, "Cry Pretty.
