Theresa May takes her deal to Brussels

With her Brexit deal in tow, Theresa May arrived in Brussels on Wednesday afternoon - ready to meet EU Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker to finalise a blueprint for a future relationship.

That ahead of Sunday's looming meeting with all EU leaders.

(SOUNDBITE) (German) GERMAN CHANCELLOR, ANGELA MERKEL, SAYING: ''Dear colleagues, we have to say that this is a very intense and sometimes nervous time.'' The German chancellor summing up a tense time not just in British politics, but also with the EU states which still have to approve the plan.

There are still lingering disagreements over fish, goods and Gibraltar.

The 20-page document is meant to go side-by-side with the draft withdrawal agreement which May unveiled last week, and which she continues to defend against fierce backlash at home and abroad.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) PRIME MINISTER, THERESA MAY SAYING: "If you look at the alternative to having that deal with the European Union, it will either be more uncertainty, more division, or it could mean no Brexit at all.'' The product of Wednesday afternoon's talks will be presented to EU leaders on Sunday for rubber-stamping, along with the UK's exit treaty.
