According to a report by Reuters, on Thursday, Pakistan said that it would release an Indian pilot who was shot down over Kashmir, in an attempt to deescalate the gravest crisis in the disputed border region in years.

Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan reportedly announced that the pilot, whose jet was downed during a dogfight between Pakistani and Indian warplanes on Wednesday, would be released Friday as a "gesture for peace.
