New Zealand woman tells of her fear following mosque shootings

ROUGH CUT.

NO REPORTER NARRATION.

At least one gunman killed 49 people and wounded more than 40 during Friday (March 15) prayers at two New Zealand mosques in the country's worst ever mass shooting - an attack Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has condemned as terrorism.

Yasmin Ali, who said several of her family friends died in the attack, added that she feared for her safety after the shooting.

"What terrifies me is that there's people out there that are enjoying this or they're okay with this... and it pushes their cause even more," she said.

"I'm really scared for our future." The gunman broadcast live footage on Facebook of the attack on one mosque in the city of Christchurch, mirroring the carnage played out in video games, after publishing a "manifesto" in which he denounced immigrants, calling them "invaders." New Zealand was placed on its highest security threat level.

Police said later three people were in custody and one man in his late 20s had been charged with murder.

He will appear in court on Saturday (March 16).
