Former President Of Peru Dies After Shooting Himself To Avoid Arrest

According to a report by Reuters, on Wednesday, authorities said that Peru&apos;s former president Alan Garcia died in a hospital in Lima after shooting himself before police arrived at his house to arrest him in connection with a bribery investigation.

Reuters reports that Garcia, who steadfastly denied any wrongdoing, was 69 years old.

Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra said in a tweet that he was &apos;consternated&apos; by Garcia&apos;s death, and sent his condolences to the former leader&apos;s family.
