NZ's Ardern commemorates ANZAC Day

ROUGH CUT.

NO REPORTER NARRATION.

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern reflected on the Christchurch mosque attacks as she joined thousands of people commemorating Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) Day dawn services across the country on Wednesday (April 25).

In a Māori Television broadcast of the Auckland dawn service, Ardern asked the crowd to "recommit" to "our shared humanity".

The day marks the landing of thousands of ANZAC troops on the Gallipoli peninsula in Turkey on April 25, 1915, during World War One.

The ill-fated military campaign against the Turks has become an important anniversary to remember troops from both countries who served and died in the war.
