Trump Administration To Appear In Court Over U.S. Census Question
According to a report by Reuters, on Wednesday, the Trump administration is expected to appear in court to defend itself against claims that its proposed addition of a citizenship question to the 2020 US Census was secretly orchestrated by a political operative looking to boost Republicans' voting power.
The hearing in Manhattan federal court is reportedly the latest development over the ongoing battle to add a citizenship question to the census.
In January, US District Judge Jesse Furman said that the government could not add the question after several immigration groups sued to block it.
In similar cases, two other judges have reportedly ruled against the government, and the Supreme Court is scheduled to issue a decision by the end of the month on whether the question can be added to next year's census.
