Tim Cook Explains Why He Removed An App In Hong Kong

Apple CEO Tim Cook explained why his company removed an app that was being used by Hong Kong pro-democracy protestors.

Protestors used the HKmap.live app to monitor police movement based on crowdsourced inputs.

China accused Apple of being complicit in “illegal acts” that helped protestors “engage in more violence.” According to Gizmodo, he admitted the app can be used for good but also for bad.

He said people using the app were not only violating Hong Kong law but also App Store guidelines.
