"I'm the Meryl Streep of generals" -Mattis

Trump previously described actress Meryl Streep as "overrated" after she criticized him in 2017.

Speaking at the annual Alfred E.

Smith Memorial Foundation Dinner in New York City, Mattis added, "You do have to admit that between me and Meryl, at least we've had some victories." Mattis resigned last year after clashing with Trump over his policy on Syria.
