New San Bernardino Wildfire Forces 500 More Homes to Evacuate.

The Hillside fire broke out at around 1:40 a.m.

PT Thursday morning, nearly 70 miles east of downtown Los Angeles.

The blaze scorched at least 200 acres in a matter of hours.

San Bernardino County Fire Chief Don Trapp commented Thursday morning.

At this point, initial assessments are we have six homes and two outbuildings consumed or damaged by the fire, San Bernardino County Fire Chief Don Trapp, via statement.

The firefighters' main opponent at this time is the wind, with gusts up to 60 mph spreading the fires.

This fire spread downhill very very rapidly through the night and into the early morning hours, San Bernardino County Assistant Fire Chief Kathleen Opliger, via statement.

Aprroximately 1,300 residents were forced to evacuate.

Two more fires also erupted in California on Thursday morning: the Copper Fire near northern Mexico and the 46 Fire in the Jurupa Valley.

The 46 Fire was caused by a car that set on fire after being chased by police
