The nation's Civil Protection Agency says it was the second highest daily tally since the epidemic emerged on February 21st.

Total fatalities in Italy have reached 10,023, by far the highest of any country in the world.

However, in terms of numbers of cases, it is second in the world the US, which has the highest number of COVID-19 cases overall.
