Town hall chiefs in Ang Thong, central Thailand, are using customised trucks to spray sanitising liquid into the air and over buildings.

Health chief Tuenjai Songtrai said the vehicles were bought from donations form locals and rolled out on Monday (April 6) to fight the Covid-19 coronavirus.

Tuenjai said he was worried about the situation so he decided to buy the disinfectant car and he was grateful for the locals who support him.

He said: "I spend 500,000THB (12,394GBP) to buy three disinfectant sprays because I want to keep my home town away from the virus.

"There were also the locals who wanted to support me and they donate me their money so I could continue the cleaning with their help and I think that is wonderful." Thailand has declared 2,369 cases of the Covid-19 coronavirus and 30 deaths.

The disease comes from Wuhan, China.

Measures to contain the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic include a ban on all passenger flights, mandatory face masks, a national 10pm curfew and the closure of all non-essential customer-facing businesses.
