India reported 475 deaths and the highest single-day spike of 26,506 new COVID19 cases in the last 24 hours. Positive cases stand at 7,93,802 including 2,76,685 active cases, 4,95,513 cured/discharged/migrated and 21,604 deaths, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Total number of samples tested till July 09 is 1,10,24,491 of which 2,83,659 samples were tested yesterday, as per Indian Council of Medical Research.
Bodies of COVID-19 patients were shifted from the same room of other patients at Patna's NMCH, after a video went viral. Mani Kumar, the maker of video said, "The dead bodies were not being removed. I thought it was dangerous when it started smelling. It was removed later after the video went viral." Speaking on the same case, Ajay Kumar Sinha, Nodal officer said, "Family of the patient came but left the dead bodies. It was getting difficult to contact them. The death took place day before yesterday and the body was removed yesterday."
Up to one in four people infected with the new coronavirus experience brain damage. This is according to the findings of a small study published Wednesday by the journal Brain.
