Pig and dog enjoy lockdown together

A pig and dog who have been best friends since they were babies are having a great time together in lockdown. Lollipop, a Juliana Mini Pig, and Whiskey, a Catahoula Leopard Hound, have been inseparable since they were days old. "They were born two weeks apart and they've been best of friends right from the start," said their owner Cece Swindle, 48, who runs Pig Tail's Rescue, a non-profit in Live Oak, Florida. "They grew up together and they really love each other, they are both almost six years old now."They play together, sleep together, eat together and Whiskey is always licking and grooming Lollipop.

It's very sweet to watch."The funny thing is that Catahoula dogs are usually bred to hunt hogs, but Whiskey protects them."  While Lollipop is a ham in front of the camera Whiskey is a little more shy. "Whiskey isn't keen on having her photo taken so I have to catch her when she's not looking," said Cece, a Deputy Sherif who spends all her free time caring for Whiskey, her elderly mother, her autistic brother and all her rescue pigs. "I've got my hands full here," she laughed. "Lollipop was my first pig, she was what inspired me to start the Pig Tail's Rescue. "Ever since I was a little girl I always wanted a pet pig, but after I got Lollipop I completely fell in love and decided to help other pigs that needed homes. "I now have ten rescues, most of them are brought to me from animal control, two of them were orphans that were found alone as piglets, running down the side of the highway. "Pigs are wonderful animals, they're very smart, each one has their own personality but they are always very loving.  "I started realizing the hell that pigs go through, so I stopped eating all red meat." A children's book about Lollipop called All About Me is available from Amazon and on Barnes and Noble. To make a donation to Pig Tail's Rescue visit:  PAYPAL.ME/LOLLIPOPTHEPIG
