VARIOUS OF EXTERIOR OF NATIONAL STADIUM STORY: Japan has not agreed to shoulder the additional costs for the postponement of the 2020 Olympics, Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga said on Tuesday (April 21), after Kyodo News reported Prime Minister Shinzo Abe had committed to cover the costs.

The agency reported that Abe has agreed to shoulder $3 billion, in line with the existing contract earlier on Tuesday.

"It's not true there has been an agreement on an additional cost burden," Suga told reporters at a regular press briefing.

Suga added the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the Tokyo 2020 organisers have agreed to access on how to handle the costs from the one-year delay together at their meeting on April 16.
