A Russian couple were seen allegedly "begpacking" while holding their baby at a bust market in Indonesia.

The father was playing an accordion while the mother had a young child in her arms and was swaying from side to side in time with the music.

Burhanudin Surya noticed the suspicious pair at the Kebon Roek Market on the island of Lombok on April 25.

He said "I think they are running out of money to survive that is why they do this risky thing." Locals raised concerns that the couple could be stranded on the island due to the coronavirus orΒ "begpacking," a bizarre form of begging while travelling through exotic third-world countries and relying on donations from locals.

Officials are now investigating the clip and trying to trace the pair, as earning money with the correct visa and work permits is illegal.

Syahrifullah, who heads the Immigration Office in Mataram, told local media that a team had been dispatched to locate the Russian nationals.

He said: ''The team are still trying to find them so we don't know their full story.

But when we do speak with them, they will be interviewed thoroughly.''
