41 NDRF teams on ground, nearly 5 lakh evacuated in Odisha, WB: DG SN Pradhan on Cyclone Amphan
The Director General of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), SN Pradhan informed that the total of 41 teams have been deployed in Odisha and West Bengal to combat Cyclone Amphan, and nearly 5 lakh people have been evacuated so far from both the states.
"The total numberof 41 teams are deployed in Odisha and West Bengak," said DG SN Pradhan while talking to ANI.
Menwhile, "Odisha has evacuated nearly 1.5 lakh people from Balasore and Bhadrak, In West Bengal over 3.3 lakh people has been evacuated," Pradhan further said.
Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on January 23 paid floral tribute to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on the occasion of his 125th birth anniversary. Congress leaders Ghulam Nabi Azad, Rajeev Shukla among other parliamentarians also remembered Bose. Netaji's bravery is well-known and he was a scholar, soldier and statesman par excellence. Born to advocate Janakinath Bose in Odisha's Cuttack on January 23, 1897, Netaji went on to play a crucial role in India's freedom movement. He is also known for establishing the Azad Hind Fauj.

The roof of a building reportedly collapsed amid heavy rain in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad on January 3. Many people were trapped under the rubble with police, fire brigade and National Disaster Response Force teams working to rescue them. DRDO successfully test-fired its Advanced Tower Artillery Gun System Howitzer. It tracked the target accurately and successfully at Odisha’s Balasore firing range. It has the capability to strike targets at the longest range of 48 kilometers. DRDO developed it with the private sector industry to promote Aatmanirbhar Bharat. It has been produced by two firms Bharat Forge & Tata Advanced Systems Limited. The ATAGS Howitzer has already fired over 2,000 rounds during the field trials in Sikkim and Pokhran.
