Heavy rain hits apartment blocks as Cyclone Amphan smashes into eastern India today (May 20).

Footage from a balcony in the city of Baruipur in West Bengal shows the heavy downpours at 1:30pm local time.

Strong rain and wind is lashing India and Bangladesh as the super cyclone makes landfall.

Millions of people have been evacuated as the storm rips in from the Bay of Bengal.

The cyclone, one of the worst in decades, is forecast to cause deadly storm surges, landslides and floods.
