A small team of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) officials worked in the early hours of May 21 to clear trees uprooted by the cyclone on a road to Digha in the eastern part of India.

Amphan, one of the worst storms to hit the Bay of Bengal in years, has killed 12 people in West Bengal state alone.

The powerful cyclone, which slammed into Indian east coast areas with gusting winds of up to 185 km/h has destroyed thousands of homes.
