Construction work gives ray of hope to stranded workers in Chandigarh

Since relaxations were announced by government in the fourth phase of lockdown, a group of labourers in Chandigarh started working in different sectors.

Labourers decided to take up construction work to earn living.

Keeping in mind the spread, labourers on site maintained social distance and took necessary precautions.

While talking to ANI one workers said, "We tried to go our village but due to unavailability of passes we wouldn't able to go so we started looking for work now we are working here from 05 May if train started then we will think about to return.

" Another labourer, who belongs to Bihar said, "I don't want to go back and I have to earn living."

One of the shopkeeper said, "People are not buying Chinese products now. We are also planning not to sell Chinese items once our existing stock is sold." A Youth Congress worker said, "When in 2013-14, rate of diesel and petrol were between Rs. 45- 50, then for BJP Inflation was 'dayan' but now when rates are shooting up to Rs. 80, inflation is 'darling' for them."
