India has hit a record daily high with over 4 lakh new covid cases in the last 24 hours. The country has seen the passing of many imminent personalities in the last 2 days. In a conversation with the Indian Express, the chief medical advisor to the US Biden Administration, Anthony Fauci stressed that India should be put under complete lockdown to control the tsunami of covid cases. Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray reckoned that the state might not reach that stage.

Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope on April 28 said the state cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, has approved around Rs 6,500 crore to provide free vaccination for people between 18-44 years in the state. Tope explained that the state has nearly 5.71 crore people in the above mentioned age group and thus the state would require 12 crore doses for their vaccination. The third phase of vaccination, covering people aged 18-44 years, will start from May 01 even as several states have expressed concerns over availability of vaccines.
Union home minister Amit Shah held a review meeting on Monday with chief ministers of West Bengal, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and lieutenant governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands to discuss the preparedness for very severe cyclone Yaas, which is likely to make a landfall on the eastern coast on Wednesday. The East Coast Railway has cancelled 90 trains running on this route. It is likely to cancel 10 more by this evening as Cyclone Yaas gains momentum before intensifying into a severe storm.

A four-year-old boy was rescued after he fell into a nearly 90-feet-deep open borewell in Rajasthan's Jalore. Three teams of NDRF and one team of SDRF reached at the spot. He was rescued later after almost 14 hours of effort. He was taken to a hospital for first-aid. A villager had raised the alarm when he saw the boy slipping into the borewell.
A four-year-old boy fell into a nearly 90-foot-deep open borewell in Rajasthan. The incident took place in a village in the state's Jalore district on Thursday. Police said the child, identified as Anil Dewasi, is alive and rescue efforts are underway. Police said rescue was delayed due to absence of required expertise for the operation. Operation began after teams of NDRF and SDRF reached the spot in Lachhri village. Police said a camera lowered into the borewell located the boy at a depth of 90 feet. Oxygen was pumped into the borewell and food was also dropped inside for the child. As per police, borewell was dug two days back in a farm owned by the child's father.
