UK set to reconsider Huawei deal The intention to re-evaluate the decision was revealed shortly after the USA imposed sanctions on the company, as it seeks to prevent computer chips based on American designs from being used in Huawei equipment.

A spokesperson for the UK's National Cyber Security Centre told Sky News: Prior to that, the Security Centre insisted it was capable of managing the risks that come with using Huawei equipment.

In January, the UK announced Huawei would be allowed to play a limited role in its 5G network.
