Walmart Dedicates $100 Million To Address Racism And Makes Internal Changes

On Friday, Walmart CEO Doug McMillon sent an email to employees addressing racial injustice and the death of George Floyd.

He said the company is committed to making changes to improve racial equity, both internally and externally.

McMillon said "Inside the company, our work to recruit, develop and support African Americans and other people of color will be even more of a priority." He also said that Walmart Foundation will pour $100 million dollars, over five years, into a new center dedicated to addressing systemic racism.

The center will help advance economic, educational and workforce development opportunities.

It will also support criminal justice reform and healthy living, along with addressing issues around the social determinants of health.
