Reactivated Ladakh's Daulat Beg Oldi airstrip in 2008 despite no from everyone: Former IAF Vice Chief
Former Indian Air Force (IAF) Vice Chief, Air Marshal (retired) PK Barbora on June 07 said he reactivated Ladakh's Daulat Beg Oldi airstrip in 2008 with the help of IAF and Indian Army, however, the government was informed through "proper channels" only after he made the landing on the airstrip and came back from there.
Air Marshal Barbora informed that the Daulat Beg Oldi airstrip was deactivated for 43 years since 1965, but was strategically very important to India.
