AAP govt pushing fear mongering in Delhi: State BJP chief on '5.5 lakh corona cases' prediction
Delhi BJP president Adesh Kumar Gupta said that Delhi government is trying to create state of fear in the capital.
He made this statement while reacting over the Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, Manish Sisodia's prediction that by July 31 there will be 5.5 lakh COVID cases and around 80,000 beds will be needed in the case.Delhi BJP president Adesh Kumar Gupta also attended an all-party meeting called by Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal to discuss the coronavirus situation in the capital.
The India Meteorological Department has predicted that Delhi is likely to receive light rainfall on August 15."The monsoon in North-western India is still quite active. Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan inaugurated a voluntary blood donation campaign at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi on Friday. Harsh Vardhan appealed to people to come forward and donate blood. AIIMS Director Dr Randeep Guleria, other senior faculty and voluntary blood donors were also present at the event. "We should keep serving humanity in all possible ways. This is the best way to celebrate Independence day," Harsh Vardhan said. The blood donation camp organised by AIIMS on the eve of 74th Independence Day is dedicated to both soldiers as well as Covid warriors who lost their lives while safeguarding the country and its citizens. Two families were invited as guests of honour including the family of a killed soldier and the family of a fallen Covid warrior of AIIMS.

Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia slammed BJP over MCD schools in Delhi. Sisodia said the BJP government should hand over MCD schools to Delhi government if they are unable to run them. Sisodia’s comment came after reported news of teachers not getting paid and textbooks not getting distributed in the schools. Sisodia visited one of the schools on Tuesday. On Monday, Sisodia wrote a letter to urban development minister Satyender Jain, saying, “I have received complaints that the schools run by municipal corporations, especially North Delhi Municipal Corporation, have not yet distributed textbooks to school children. The allegations against the civic body, if found true, are serious and no one can play with the lives of young children... It is unfortunate that even after a lapse of five full months during the academic year 2020-21, textbooks are yet to be provided to children, which can play havoc with their lives.” Watch the full video for more details.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Atishi met family member of 12-year-old sexual assault victim at Delhi's AIIMS on August 08. Speaking on this she said that mishap cannot be rectified but compensation of 10 lakh has been given by the Delhi Government. "Whatever happened with the girl child cannot be rectified, but she can be helped so that she doesn't face trouble during treatment. Therefore, the compensation of 10 lakh has been given by the Delhi government. We hope that she get well soon," said Atishi on minor facing brutal sexual assault in Delhi's Paschim Vihar.
Aam Aadmi Party leader, Raghav Chadha said that they have reiterated the demands in front of the Lieutenant Governor of reopening of hotels and markets in Delhi in order to bring movement in the economic cycle. He said, "Delhi stopped the corona wave and now when the elected government is trying to bring movement in the economic cycle by reopening hotels and markets then the central government and LG is interfering in it and are trying to stop it. We have again sent a letter to LG reiterating the demand of allowing movement in the economic cycle."

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his deputy Manish Sisodia greeted Delhiites on the festival. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar extended his Eid greetings to people. Wishing people on the occasion, BSP chief Mayawati appealed to them to celebrate the festival at home in view of the surge in Covid cases. Eid al-Adha or Bakrid is the festival of sacrifice. Devotees distribute the offering to family, friends and neighbours. They also distribute the offering to poor and needy.

Speaking on Delhi riots, Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain on Friday said that the culprits should be punished severely but at the same time there should not be any punishment or harassment of innocent people. Jain's statement came after Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal overturned AAP government's decision rejecting Delhi Police's panel of lawyers for arguing the cases related to the February riots in the city in the Supreme Court and the high court. LG Baijal has directed the home department to grant approval to Delhi Police's proposed panel of lawyers. "Investigation and prosecution are two different things. Prosecution is done by lawyers. It's not right to have lawyers suggested by police. We want punishment for all culprits. At the same time, no innocent should be punished," Jain said. Delhi cabinet had earlier rejected the panel of lawyers proposed by city police. Cabinet said it would not help a 'free-and-fair' trial of cases related to North East Delhi riots. Government said that LG Baijal has rejected cabinet decision by exercising special power under Article 239AA(4).
