Civil society can play major role in awareness for following COVID-19 protocols: CM Gehlot

Interacting with civil society representatives through video conference, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said that the threat of coronavirus has not been averted.

He said It is imperative for all of us to strictly adhere to the COVID-19 protocols of wearing masks, maintaining social distancing and avoiding crowded places.

"A big awareness campaign is needed in the state for this.

Civil society and voluntary organizations can play an important role in this with support of the government," said CM Gehlot.

CM said ever since the lockdown was implemented, the state government took decisions by taking all the parties including religious leaders, public representatives, voluntary organizations, entrepreneurs in confidence.

All organizations fully supported the administration.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister also applauded the voluntary organizations and civil society working at the grassroot level in this hour of crisis in diverse fields including protection of women health and their rights, child protection, labour welfare, MGNREGA and food security.

Workers of these organizations shared information with the government regarding distribution of ration, delivery of food items and transportation of migrant workers, which helped the government in timely redressal of the problems related to them.
