Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Edappadi K Palaniswami opened the sluice gates of Mettur Dam after 9 years and they were last opened in 2011.

Water from dam will help farmers from delta region.

CM Edappadi said, "Water would be released from the dam for 90 days.

3,000 cusecs of water was released in the first go."
