Kind mother hands out hundreds of free meals to workers stranded in Dubai

This is the heartwarming moment a Filipina mother cooked and hands out packed meals to migrant workers who have lost their jobs due to the pandemic in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Feby Baguisa, 34, prepared the free meals with the help of her children while her husband is out for work.

Their housemates, another migrant family who share an apartment with them, also lend a hand in distributing the food packs.

The mother-of-three also lost her job when businesses were closed down due to the covid-19 restrictions.

Footage shows Feby and her family on the 16th day of giving out free food to a long queue of migrant workers, mostly Filipinos, in Muraqabat Deira on June 8.

They were able to provide 320 food packs consisting of rice, viand, and some snacks that day.

She said: "I am glad that people appreciate our efforts.

Some of them reached out to me to give goods and money for the kitchen.

"I am also poor but doing this act of helping people, especially feeding the children so they will not sleep on empty stomachs brings so much joy to me." On average, Feby is able to cook 200 meals a day.

They have secured food safety license to make sure that they follow the health protocols of the government.

She added: "We operate under strict social distancing rules, and recipients should wear face masks all the time." The project, which Feby called "Ayuda" meaning "help" in English, started on the first day of Muslim religious holiday Eid-al-Fitr on May 24.
