With 9,440 COVID-19 patients cured in last 24 hours, recovery rate increases to 55.77 percent

With 9,440 COVID-19 patients cured in the last 24 hours, the COVID-19 recovery rate of India has increased to 55.77 per cent, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Monday.

With the increasing cases of COVID-19, India reported an increase of increase of 14,821 new cases in 24 hours on June 22.

The total positive cases have crossed 4.2 lakh mark in the country.

Maharashtra tops the list of worst affected states with 3721 new cases and 62 deaths.

On the other hand, Tamil Nadu reported 2,710 new active cases and 37 deaths today.

The total number of cases in the state is 62,087 and death toll is 794.

Number of active cases stands at 27,178.

With 9,440 COVID-19 patients cured in the last 24 hours, the COVID-19 recovery rate of India has increased to 55.77 per cent, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Monday.

The total number of samples tested up to July 03 is 95,40,132 of which 2,42,383 samples were tested yesterday, informed the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

COVID-19: India reports the highest single-day spike of 24,850 new cases

On July 05, India reported the highest single-day spike of 24,850 new COVID-19 cases and 613 deaths in the last 24 hours. As of now, positive cases stand at 6,73,165 including 2,44,814 active cases, 4,09,083 cured/discharged/migrated and 19,268 deaths. Maharashtra being the worst affected state recorded over 2 lakh confirmed cases. According to Ministry of Health, total confirmed cases in Maharashtra is 2,00,064. Indian Coast Guard rescues 6 Sri Lankan fishermen in Chennai

Indian Coast Guard rescued six Sri Lankan fishermen by a merchant vessel YM Summit from 170 nautical miles east of Chennai in Tamil Nadu. The rescue operation was coordinated by Indian Coast Guard Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) of Mumbai and Chennai on July 05 morning. The merchant vessel was on her way to Visakhapatnam when she sighted a capsized fishing boat with six survivors atop, at about 07:15 am on 05 Jul 2020, approximately 170 nautical miles east of Chennai. The master transmitted the information to MRCC, Mumbai which was timely shared with MRCC, Chennai for further coordination. MRCC Chennai coordinated with the vessel for safe rescue of the survivors. The six survivors are identified as natives of Trincomalee, Sri Lanka. They were reportedly stranded and adrift at sea, braving the vagaries of rough weather for four days. MRCC, Chennai further, coordinated with the Sri Lankan Deputy High Commission, Chennai and MRCC Colombo to verify the credentials and arranging for their safe return to home.
