Maharashtra reports highest 5204 COVID cases in 24 hours, nationwide tally set to cross 5 lakh

With 5,024 fresh cases in the last 24 hours, Maharashtra has reported highest single day spike of COVID-19 infections on June 26.

175 deaths reported on today due to the deadly infection.

Out of these total 175 deaths, 91 deaths are of last 48 hours and 84 deaths are of previous dates but recorded today.

There are 65,829 active cases in the State.In Tamil Nadu, 3,645 fresh cases of coronavirus reported on June 26.

The total number of cases in the state reached 74,622, out of which 32,305 are active cases.

46 deaths reported over the last 24 hours, total fatalities are 957.

The national capital, Delhi reported 3,460 new COVID19 positive cases and 63 deaths today.

Total number of cases stands at 77,240 including 47,091 recovered/discharged/migrated.

27,657 cases are active in the state right now, and 2,492 lost their lives due to the deadly virus.

Meanwhile, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has inducted 11 new labs in last 24 hours.

India now has 1016 diagnostic labs dedicated to COVID19.

During past 24 hours, 2,15,446 tests have been conducted.

The total number of samples tested, as on date, is 77,76,228.

COVID-19: India reports the highest single-day spike of 24,850 new cases

On July 05, India reported the highest single-day spike of 24,850 new COVID-19 cases and 613 deaths in the last 24 hours. As of now, positive cases stand at 6,73,165 including 2,44,814 active cases, 4,09,083 cured/discharged/migrated and 19,268 deaths. Maharashtra being the worst affected state recorded over 2 lakh confirmed cases. According to Ministry of Health, total confirmed cases in Maharashtra is 2,00,064. According to Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), the total number of samples tested up to July 4 is 97,89,066 of which 2,48,934 samples were tested on July 04.

Indian Coast Guard rescues 6 Sri Lankan fishermen in Chennai

Indian Coast Guard rescued six Sri Lankan fishermen by a merchant vessel YM Summit from 170 nautical miles east of Chennai in Tamil Nadu. The rescue operation was coordinated by Indian Coast Guard Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) of Mumbai and Chennai on July 05 morning. The merchant vessel was on her way to Visakhapatnam when she sighted a capsized fishing boat with six survivors atop, at about 07:15 am on 05 Jul 2020, approximately 170 nautical miles east of Chennai. The master transmitted the information to MRCC, Mumbai which was timely shared with MRCC, Chennai for further coordination. MRCC Chennai coordinated with the vessel for safe rescue of the survivors. The six survivors are identified as natives of Trincomalee, Sri Lanka. They were reportedly stranded and adrift at sea, braving the vagaries of rough weather for four days. MRCC, Chennai further, coordinated with the Sri Lankan Deputy High Commission, Chennai and MRCC Colombo to verify the credentials and arranging for their safe return to home.
