Pangolin rescued from smuggler in Chhattisgarh's Gariaband
Chhattisgarh Police has successfully traced and recovered a pangolin from the possession of a person, who was supposed to smuggle the animal in the market.
Gariaband's Superintendent of police, Bhojram Patel said, "We have handed over the pangolin to wild life department, further investigation is going on." It is noted that all eight pangolin species are protected under national and international laws, and two are listed as Critically Endangered on the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List of Threatened Species.
