Amid COVID-19 pandemic, Delhi's famous Jama Masjid reopened their doors for devotees on July 04. The mosque will remain open from 9 am to 10 pm while following social distancing norms. Fatehpuri mosque in Delhi also reopened for the public from onwards. "Fatehpuri mosque is allowed to reopen now. But, we should keep in mind that COVID-19 is still there. We have to take all precautions including wearing masks and using sanitisers frequently," Mufti Mukarram Ahmed, Shahi Imam of the Fatehpuri Mosque said. Meanwhile, the total number of COVID-19 cases in national capital has reached 94,695 so far.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on July 03 met the family of LNJP Hospital's Dr. Aseem Gupta who died due to COVID-19. The CM handed over a compensation amount of Rs 1 crore to his family during his visit. CM Kejriwal said, "Dr. Aseem Gupta was martyred while treating COVID-19 patients. This is a big loss for us. The way doctors, nurses and paramedical staff are saving lives of people and fighting against the virus, they are the biggest hope for people."
While addressing a press conference in the national capital on July 02, the Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal urged recovered COVID-19 patients to donate plasma and explained about eligibility. He said, "If you have recovered from COVID-19 and your age is between 18 and 60 and your weight is above 50 kg, then you may donate plasma for COVID-19 patients." "However, women who have given birth or the persons with comorbidities, are not eligible to donate plasma," Delhi CM added.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his deputy Manish Sisodia on July 01 visited commonwealth games village which has been turned into COVID care centre. CM Kejriwal said, "Around 500 beds have been set up here. The centre will be linked to LNJP Hospital and has separate wards for male and female patients."
On July 04, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reviewed relief works done by BJP workers during the lockdown. In a virtual meet, he said, "Workers of Bihar BJP and the people deserve congratulations. Many people were saying that COVID-19 will spread faster in eastern parts of the country due to high temperatures. But you all have proved it wrong."
Uttar Pradesh Principal Secretary (Health) Amit Mohan Prasad on July 4 informed about the latest count of COVID cases in the state. He said, "In the last 24 hours, 772 new COVID-19 positive cases have been reported in the state. There are 7,627 active cases, 18154 discharges so far and 773 patients have succumbed to the infection."
