Government promise £1b school infrastructure funding

Education Secretary Gavin Williamson has explained that £1 billion is being offered for upgrades to school infrastructure in England in addition to the £23 billion already offered by the government.

Mr Williamson disputed suggestions the funding was paying for problems caused by austerity measures, claiming that "hundreds of new schools [were] built in that period".
