Children born to mothers who had depression during or after pregnancy are at significantly higher risk of depression themselves later in life.

In fact, UPI reports a new analysis says such children are nearly twice as likely as others to develop the disorder as teens or adults.

Research suggests up to 20% of women suffer from depression during pregnancy, known as perinatal depression.
