Touching moment mother uses trunk to help baby elephant over climb barrier

This is the heartwarming moment a mother elephant helped her calf to cross a roadside barrier, gently nudging it with its trunk, in front of a group of cyclists in India.

Video filmed by Anish Katta on Thursday (July 2) in southern Kerala state shows the baby elephant struggling for nearly a minute to get over the barrier that the mother elephant and another elephant, larger than the calf, has already climbed with ease.

"I am very lucky to see this sight, you never get to see such a sight everyday, it is rare," filmer Katta, from Mallapuram district in Kerala, told Newsflare.

The cyclists and truck drivers wait patiently until the calf is safely over the barrier.
