Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday released the Project Management Approach (PMA) guidelines for iDEX (Innovations for Defence Excellence) during the launch function of Defence India Startup Challenge-4 (DISC4). Apart from Singh, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat also participated in the event, being held via video conferencing. Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated "Destination North East 2020" four-day fest on September 27. "I have travelled in many countries and states but beauty of Northeast India is rare," said Amit Shah. "Northeast India has protected their heritage, culture and languages despite the several attacks on them." He made the announcement on the occasion of World Tourism Day via video conference. It's a calendar event organised by Ministry of Development of North-Eastern Region to bring the region closer to other parts of India and boost tourism.
While addressing at the 79th Foundation Day of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) in the national capital on September 26, Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan spoke on COVID-19 pandemic. He said, "Now we have 110 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) manufacturers in India, producing over 5 lakh per day." "States who used to cry about not getting adequate number of PPEs, now say they don't have place to keep them when we talk about sending PPEs," Health and Family Welfare Minister added.
A 19-year-old Dalit woman, who was allegedly gangraped in UP's Hathras, died on Tuesday. The woman was allegedly raped by four men in her village on Sep 14 when she went to a farm. She was taken to a hospital in Aligarh and later moved to Safdarjung hospital in Delhi. The woman was reportedly in a critical condition and on ventilator support. Police said the woman had gone to the fields with her mother and went missing. She was later found brutally injured. As per reports, the accused also attempted to strangulate her. Uttar Pradesh Police later took all the four accused into custody. The Kotwali in-charge in Hathras was removed and sent to police lines. Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) was deployed at the victim's house. BSP chief Mayawati had condemned the incident, saying no woman from any community is safe in Uttar Pradesh and asked the state government to pay attention to it.

Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has shown the successful demonstration of hypersonic air-breathing scramjet technology with the flight test of Hypersonic Technology Demonstration Vehicle (HSTDV). The test was done at 1103 hours on September 07 from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Launch Complex at Wheeler Island, off the coast of Odisha. With this, India has become the fourth country to develop and test hypersonic technology. "It's a major technological breakthrough in country. This testing paves the way for development of more critical technologies, materials and hypersonic vehicles. This puts India in a selected club of nations who have demonstrated this technology," DRDO Chairman Dr G Satheesh Reddy said.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal made a substantial promise to the residents of the capital. He vowed to ensure 24x7 clean running water in all houses in the next 5 years. Kejriwal said that the process for the same had started with the Delhi Jal Board initiating the hiring of a consultant to advise the authorities on how to go about implementing their plan. The CM said that the process would have begun in March or April 2020 but was derailed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. He also said that Delhi is in talks with governments of various states like Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand to increase water supply to the capital. Water woes plague many areas of the capital with residents depending on water tankers for their basic needs.
