A new system hopes to thwart so-called ‘porch pirates' those who steal parcels left by delivery drivers. The Snare Parcel Protection System fits securely outside your front door. A strong cable extends from it, which a courier is able to wrap around most sized parcels. The parcel owner is then able to unlock the mechanism with a key. Entrepreneur Dennis Evans, of Edmonton, Canada, believes it deters thieves who want easy pickings. The system is being crowdfunded through Kickstarter.

The oldest baby boomers in the US are now in their 70s, while the youngest are approaching their 60s. And according to Gizmodo, a new study reveals boomers are experiencing a drop in cognitive function as they age, relative to previous generations. What's more, Gizmodo reports future aging generations may be at a similar heightened risk. Study author Professor Hui Zheng says the decline was seen in all groups: men and women, and across all races, ethnicities, education, income, and wealth levels. Contributing factors may include sedentary lifestyles, chemical additives to food, and a lack of universal healthcare in the US.
The Trump administration was at a loss on Tuesday over the president's suggestion to shake down Microsoft in its proposed purchase of Chinese app TikTok. According to Gizmodo, the Trump administration has threatened to ban TikTok in the US, possibly by putting it on a Commerce Department blacklist. The threat is based on largely theoretical concerns that Beijing-based owner ByteDance could use it to spy on tens of millions of users.
Data from more than 20 emergency rooms across five states seems to confirm anecdotal reports from health care workers. According to Gizmodo, emergency rooms across the US saw a massive decline in visits in March and April. The study speculates the decline was possibly due to people fearing they'd contract the novel coronavirus COVID-19 if they sought medical care. ER data from Colorado, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, and North Carolina were included in the study.
