Delhi-NCR to receive moderate thundershower for next 24 hrs: IMD
Deputy Director-General of IMD, Anand Sharma on July 07, informed that Delhi-NCR will receive moderate thundershower for next 24 hours and after that light rain thundershowers for the next 48 hours.
He said, "For next 24 hours, we expect a moderate thundershower in Delhi-NCR and after that for the next 48 hours we expect light rain thundershowers.
This will lead to normal and below normal temperatures but we don't expect heavy showers at the moment." He further said, "We have a cyclonic circulation over Saurashtra and Kutch, another cyclonic circulation on Jharkhand has weakened and another cyclonic circulation is present over coastal Andhra Pradesh."
Even as Delhi still is waiting for handful of rainfall after the arrival of monsoon, IMD Deputy Director Anand Sharma on June 30 said the national capital will have to wait for some more time to receive even moderate showers. Sharma said the upcoming three days could see drizzling here and there in the city, and only after that chances are there of good rainfall coming.
Briefing about the weather conditions, India Meteorological Department, Deputy Director Anand Sharma informed that parts of Uttarakhand and UP will witness monsoon from June 23. "Monsoon will enter parts of Uttarakhand and nearby areas of Uttar Pradesh on 23rd June. From 24-25th June, the monsoon will cover, UP, Haryana, Punjab and parts of Rajasthan," said Anand Sharma, Deputy Director, IMD, Delhi.
Indian Meteorological Department Deputy Director Anand Sharma informed that Monsoon may hit Delhi and nearby regions by 25th June. IMD said, "Currently for 1-2 days Monsoon progress won't take place as conditions are not congenial. But from From 22nd-24th conditions are favourable for monsoon advancement. We expect easterlies to strengthen and bring moisture to more parts of Uttar Pradesh and Himalayas."
While speaking to ANI in the national capital on June 17, the Congress leader spoke on sacrifice of Indian Army jawans in Galwan Valley clash on June 15. Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan inaugurated a voluntary blood donation campaign at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi on Friday. Harsh Vardhan appealed to people to come forward and donate blood. AIIMS Director Dr Randeep Guleria, other senior faculty and voluntary blood donors were also present at the event. "We should keep serving humanity in all possible ways. This is the best way to celebrate Independence day," Harsh Vardhan said. The blood donation camp organised by AIIMS on the eve of 74th Independence Day is dedicated to both soldiers as well as Covid warriors who lost their lives while safeguarding the country and its citizens. Two families were invited as guests of honour including the family of a killed soldier and the family of a fallen Covid warrior of AIIMS.

A man from Maharashtra's Osmanabad was arrested by the Border Security Force (BSF) in Kutch after he was trying to cross over to Pakistan on bike to meet his lover, said police. Parikshita Rathod, Superintendent of Police, Kutch East, said, "Through Osmanabad Police, we received primary information that the man was in contact with a girl on Facebook where he became friends with her. And to meet her, he was about to cross from Ran."
Sever water-logging witnessed in Gujarat's Dwarka after heavy rainfall. Water-logging disrupted daily lives of people. Traffic snarled due to the water-logged roads. Extremely heavy rainfall is on cards in Jamnagar, Dwarka and Kutch districts, predicted Ahmedabad's Meteorological Department.
Informing about the weather conditions, Ahmedabad's Meteorological Department Director, Jayanta Sarkar, on July 07 said that extremely heavy rainfall is expected in Jamnagar, Dwarka and Kutch districts of Gujarat. "Extremely heavy rainfall is expected in Jamnagar, Dwarka and Kutch. Very heavy rainfall will lash Gir Somnath, Junagarh, Porbandar and Rajkot. Almost all the districts in Saurashtra will receive heavy rainfall today," he said. Meanwhile, a team of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) rescued two people stuck in the Und river catchment area in Jamnagar district due to continuous rainfall.

Jharkhand HRD Minister Jagarnath Mahto applied for admission in class 11 as regular student. Earlier, Mahto was criticized for being 'Class 10 passed education minister'. He said, "I am enrolling in class 11 now and will study hard. I was very offended when my capability of assuming the role of the HRD minister was questioned as I am still just a class 10 pass out. 4,416 model schools will be opened and operated all across Jharkhand. I have signed the order to undertake the work for it today. This will provide better education in the state with more facilities."
The cases of coronavirus continued to rise in India. Maharashtra crossed 5.6 lakh mark of COVID-19 cases and reached to 5,60,126. 11,813 new COVID-19 cases and 413 deaths reported in Maharashtra on Aug 13. Delhi reported 956 new COVID-19 positive cases and 14 deaths today. 9996 new COVID-19 positive cases and 82 deaths have been reported in Andhra Pradesh in the last 24 hours. 6706 COVID-19 cases and 103 deaths reported in Karnataka today.
