A political war of words broke out over the alleged rape and murder of the 6-year-old child of a migrant labourer in Punjab. While Nirmala Sitharaman said that rapes shouldn't be politicised, her colleague in the Union Cabinet, Prakash Javadekar questioned why Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi hadn't visited the victim's family in Punjab, like Hathras. The Himachal Pradesh government has decided to resume inter-state bus service from on October 14. The bus service was suspended for nearly seven months to curb the spread of COVID-19. Inter-state bus service will completely resume in phases. In the first phase, the Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) is running buses on 25 routes. Services resumed on routes of neigbouring states. COVID-19 protocols are being followed in buses.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers staged protest outside Siddhivinayak Temple against the state government on October 13. They demanded that all temples in Maharashtra should be re-opened for devotees. Protesters tried to enter the temple amidst heavy police deployment and barricading. BJP workers were later detained by police after they made an attempt to enter Siddhivinayak Temple. Speaking to ANI, the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Maharashtra Legislative Council, Pravin Darekar said, "Liquor and wine shops have been opened, even with home delivery options. But who will think about those who want to visit the temple for their mental peace?" "Government is not thinking about small traders whose livelihood depends on temples. Government is full of ego," BJP leader added. Adding to it, BJP leader, Prasad Lad said, "We are demanding that we should be allowed to enter the Siddhivinayak Temple. If they don't give us entry, then we will force our way into the temple. This is a pan-Maharashtra movement as we want that all temples in the state should be re-opened as soon as possible."
Kerala state Congress Committee staged a protest in Thiruvananthapuram against Uttar Pradesh government on October 05. Congress Committee came heavy on UP government over the alleged Hathras gang-rape. Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Kerala Legislative Assembly, Ramesh Chennithala said, "It's a state-wide protest against the Dalit atrocity in UP. Modi government isn't taking care of people's anguish. The Dalits are being treated like animals. UP government must quit. Atrocities are increasing day by day; there is no one to protect the dalit, the poor and the marginalized section of society."
While commenting on the Farm Bills, Leader of Opposition in Bihar Legislative Assembly, Tejashwi Yadav said, "The agriculture bills recently passed in Lok Sabha is against farmers and now we can see the difference of opinion in NDA (National Democratic Party) also". Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) Member of Parliament (MP), Harsimran Kaur Badal resigned from the cabinet post over the issue. "Opposition parties are misleading people, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi said agricultural bills the will be beneficial for farmer. India become independent in 1947 but farmers got independence today with these two agricultural bills," said the Home Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Anil Vij. Haryana and Punjab farmers have staged protest against the bills.
