Metabolic syndrome is a group of conditions including high blood pressure, elevated blood sugar, and excess body fat.

According to UPI, the syndrome also includes increased cholesterol and triglyceride levels.

Collectively, these conditions increase your risk for Type 2 diabetes and heart disease.
