The Home Minister paid tribute at National Police Memorial on Police Commemoration Day. "My tributes to police personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty. So far, 35,398 police personnel have lost their lives in the line of duty. Names of all those police personnel are marked here at the wall. This memorial is not just made of bricks and cement. This memorial remembers the martyrdom of our soldiers. We salute the martyrdom of brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives," he said. The police memorial in the national capital is spread over 6.12 acres. It has a 30-foot tall heavy black granite central sculpture and a museum and 'Wall of Valour' bearing names of police personnel who died on duty. The Police Commemoration Day is observed every year on October 21. The day is observed in memory of CRPF jawans who died in Ladakh while fighting Chinese troops on this day in 1959.

Culture Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Usha Thakur sparked controversy with her statement over madrasas. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, Usha Thakur said, "All terrorists are raised in madrasas, they had turned Jammu and Kashmir into a terror factory. Madrasas which can't comply with nationalism, they should be merged with existing education system to ensure complete progress of the society." She made this statement on October 20 in Indore while addressing a press conference.
MP Culture Minister Usha Thakur said that the government funding of madrasas must be stopped. Thakur alleged that these madrasas nurture 'fundamentalists and terrorists'. The BJP leader was addressing a press meet in Indore ahead of the state bypolls. "Religion-based education is spreading hatred among all. Students of all religions should be given the same education. All the terrorists of the country have been raised in madrasas. Jammu and Kashmir was made a factory of terrorists," Thakur said. She added, "Madrasas need to be linked to a 'proper education system'. This will connect students to 'nationalism and mainstream society'." Later, Congress said that BJP was communalising campaign for bypolls with such statements. Byelections in the state are scheduled to take place on November 3.

Qualcomm Technologies and Reliance Jio on October 21 announced they achieved over a 1 Gbps milestone speed on the Jio 5GNR solution, leveraging the Qualcomm 5G RAN Platforms. Qualcomm and Jio along with its wholly-owned subsidiary Radisys Corporation today announced their expanded efforts to develop open and interoperable interface compliant architecture based 5G solutions with a virtualized RAN. This work is intended to fast track the development and roll-out of indigenous 5G network infrastructure and services in India. This achievement not only supports Jio's 5G credentials but also signifies the entry of Jio and India into the Gigabit 5G NR product portfolio. This machine recycles old clothes into brand new ones. Unveiled by clothing brand H&M, 'Looop' opened in H&M’s Drottninggatan store in Stockholm on 12 October. Looop works by cleaning the garments and shredding them into fibres, then spinning that into new yarn which is then knitted into new fashion items. The scheme is part of H&M’s plan to build a more sustainable business model based on more garments being reused and recycled into new clothes. The system uses no water and no chemicals, which means it has a lower environmental impact. By 2030, the brand’s aim is for all its materials to be either recycled or sourced in a more sustainable way.

Business Insider reports that H&M has been fined $41.1 million by a German regulator. The company was caught monitoring "several hundred employees" at its service center in Nuremberg, Germany. In 2018 The EU introduced new General Data Protection Regulation laws. This is the second-largest fine levied against a single company over data breaches since the 2018 laws were put into effect. Since 2014 supervisors and managers at H&M have been storing data on employees.
